Georgian police on Tuesday said law enforcement officers had arrested 45 individuals, including 23 drug dealers, for sale, purchase, possession and smuggling of drugs across the country “over the recent period”.
Teimuraz Kupatadze, the head of the Central Criminal Police department, told local media 14 foreign individuals were among those arrested.
Kupatadze also said police officers had seized “especially large amounts” of heroin, cocaine, alpha PVP, buprenorphine, methamphetamine and other drugs while searching the individuals, as well as residential houses and vehicles related to them.
The crimes are punishable by 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
