ATLANTA – The state Senate on Thursday approved a wide-ranging bill aimed at stemming the tide of gang-related crime in Georgia. Sponsored by Sen. John Albers, R-Roswell, the 10-page bill makes a number of changes to Georgia’s criminal law to address gang violence. ATLANTA — Three Georgia lawmakers are pushing for more police accountability and have put forth three bills to do it. After the video release of the brutal police beating of Tyre Nichols, Georgia Rep. Sandra Scott, Rep. Kim Schofield and Rep. Police officers in Georgia were being hailed as heroes after busting through a window of a smoke-filled home and rescuing an elderly woman trapped in a house fire, authorities said Wednesday. Officers responded to a house fire call in Conyers on Sunday and spotted a person inside the home trying to get their attention from a window, the Conyers Police Department said.
