Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, currently on an official visit to London, has held a meeting with Head of the United Kingdom-Armenia Friendship Group Tim Loughton and members of the group.
A number of issues pertaining to Armenian-British relations were discussed during the meeting, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The interlocutors recorded the dynamics of deepening the bilateral political dialogue and in that context noted the importance of the Armenia-Great Britain strategic dialogue launched yesterday as an important manifestation of support for democracy in Armenia.
Issues related to the security situation in the South Caucasus were on the agenda of the meeting.
The Foreign Minister outlined Armenia’s perspective on fostering peace and stability in the region. Minister Mirzoyan referred to the principles recorded in the Granada Declaration.
Ararat Mirzoyan presented the “Crossroads of Peace” project developed by the Armenian government,” reads the statement.
According to the source, Minister Mirzoyan presented to the British parliamentarians the situation created as a result of ethnic cleansing by Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh, emphasizing the problems of addressing the needs and rights of more than 100,000 forcibly displaced Armenians.
The participants emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on the South Caucasus, especially against the backdrop of conflicts in various corners of the world.
