The Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib will be on a visit to Georgia between Wednesday and Thursday to meet her counterpart Ilia Darchiashvili, the Georgian foreign office said on Wednesday.
In the framework of her visit, the Belgian official will also hold a meeting with the Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili.
Lahbib will also visit the administrative line separating the Russian-occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region from the rest of Georgia, and lay a wreath at the Tbilisi memorial of those who died in conflicts for the territorial integrity of the country.
Lahbib will also meet with representatives of the Orthodox Church of Georgia.
The top Belgian diplomat on Tuesday said the goal of the visit to the South Caucasus, which will also bring her to Armenia and Azerbaijan, was to promote “lasting peace” in the region and strengthening of the “bonds that unite us”.
