IndiGo has announced another international service, this time to Tbilisi, Georgia, as it continues to expand its reach in offshore locations. The airline has recently introduced or announced several international flights on top of numerous connections to the West via its strategic partnership with Turkish Airlines. The latest service is another example of IndiGo’s growing ambition for expansion outside India.
Flight to Tbilisi
India’s largest airline IndiGo recently announced the launch of its flight to Tbilisi, Georgia. The flight will connect India’s capital New Delhi with Georgia and start operating effective August 8th. This will be IndiGo’s 29th international and 107th overall destination. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, commented,
According to the airline’s website, the Delhi-Tbilisi flight 6E 1807 will fly from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) at 20:10 on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and will reach Tbilisi at 00:45 the next day. The Tbilisi-Delhi flight 6E 1808 will fly from Georgia’s capital at 1.45 AM on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday and will reach Delhi at 07:10 AM on the same day.
Part of a larger international expansion
The service to Tbilisi is the latest in a series of international flights introduced or announced by IndiGo. The carrier recently also announced that it will start connecting Jakarta from Mumbai from August 7th. Its Middle East network received another addition following the start of the service between Hyderabad and Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE on June 15th.
IndiGo will also start operating non-stop flights between Mumbai and Nairobi, which will become the budget carrier’s 27th international and 105th overall destination. The airline has opened the booking for these daily flights on its website, and the new service will begin on August 5th. This will be IndiGo’s first scheduled commercial service to Africa.
New domestic connection
Meanwhile, IndiGo continues to offer new services to its domestic passengers and recently started flying between Rajkot and Pune in West India. IndiGo has a massive presence in Pune, where its position has strengthened even more after the collapse of Go First.
And while the carrier also operates other flights from Rajkot, such as to Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, its flight connecting the city to Pune will be exclusive to the airline, as there is no other Indian carrier offering commercial service between the city pair.
Not too far from Pune, Mumbai is another destination seeing increased connectivity by IndiGo, with the carrier launching a non-stop flight to Durgapur in the state of West Bengal as well as resuming the service to Kannur from July 1st.
