Country music star Jo Dee Messina is selling her custom-designed 2016 home in Brooks, Georgia, for $3 million.
“Brooks is a hidden gem in the heart of Georgia,” about 30 miles south of Atlanta, said listing agent Staci Donaldson, of Heritage Realty. “It has a hometown feel and it’s centrally located,” about 24 miles from Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport and 34 miles from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where the Atlanta Falcons play.
With a modern farmhouse design, the 4,991-square-foot house has six bedrooms, four full bathrooms and one partial bathroom. It sits on a 5-acre lot.
The home has more than 900 square feet of covered porches, including a wraparound porch with ceiling fans and a screened porch in back, Donaldson said.
Other amenities include a new backyard pool with a spa and tanning deck, a three-car garage, wide-plank hardwood floors throughout, and a security system with cameras, according to a news release from 117 Entertainment, Messina’s media representative.
The home also has a one-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen, living and dining rooms and a separate entrance.
One of the most well-known country artists of the 1990s and ’00s, Messina kicked off her career in 1996 with the single “Heads Carolina, Tails California.” Following the success of her debut, she posted nine No. 1 hits on the Billboard country music charts and 16 Top 40 songs and has been recognized by the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association, according to published reports. She has been nominated for two Grammy awards.
The singer bought the home with her husband in 2021 for $1.84 million, according to property records. Messina, 52, most recently hit the stage for the 2023 CMA Fest, the longest-running country music festival in the world. She was not immediately available for comment.
The double front doors open to a foyer, with a music room on the left, Donaldson said. Doors in the music room open to the side porch.
The kitchen features a 4-by-8-foot island and a dining and sitting area with beamed and vaulted ceilings and a fireplace. There is also a formal dining room, a butler’s pantry, a mudroom and a living room with a wood-burning fireplace.
The main-level primary bedroom suite has dual closets and an en-suite that features double vanities with Carrara marble countertops, a soaking tub and a tiled shower, Donaldson said. The rest of the bedrooms are upstairs.
The home has a gated entry and the property is completely fenced, she said. “The landscaping is impeccable—you always have a variety of plants in bloom.”
Professional photos are being shot later this week and the listing should go live soon thereafter, Donaldson said.
