Romanian President Klaus Iohannis declares that Romania has been and remains with the Republic of Moldova and strongly condemns any destabilization attempts initiated from outside the country. “Public signals about any attempts by the Russian Federation to intervene illegitimately in order to overthrow the democratic and constitutional order of the Republic of Moldova, a sovereign state that has chosen its political course through free voting, are extremely alarming,” the message of the Romanian President, quoted by IPN, says.

Threats aimed at destabilizing the European trajectory of the Republic of Moldova, especially in this difficult period, marked at the world level by deep crises in the field of security and economy, should by no means be ignored, says Klaus Iohannis. “I reaffirm as clearly as possible that the Republic of Moldova is not alone in the face of these challenges. I also reaffirm Romania’s unwavering support for respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders and for its pro-European future,” the President of Romania emphasized.

According to him, the place of the Republic of Moldova is in the big family of the European Union. This path is irreversible and must be followed consistently, courageously and ambitiously. In this process of accession, the Republic of Moldova, as before, can count on the full solidarity and active support of the Romanian state.

“Romania supports reform efforts and democratic consolidation on the path chosen by Chisinau towards a modern, prosperous society based on European democratic values. I assure the citizens of the Republic of Moldova that Romania and the Romanians are still with them,” clarifies Klaus Iohannis.
