Romanian leader Klaus Iohannis supports Chisinau’s aspirations to become part of the European family and promises to help deal with Russian provocations.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis is concerned about the news that the Russian political leadership is preparing a coup in Moldova. He announced this on his page on the social network Facebook .

Romania continues to be on the side of Moldova and will support it in such a difficult time. Any attempt at destabilization by pro-Russian activists is condemned by the president.

“Public signals about any attempts of illegal interference by the Russian Federation with the aim of overthrowing the democratic and constitutional order of Moldova, a sovereign state that freely chooses its political course, are extremely alarming. Threats aimed at destabilizing Moldova, especially in this difficult period, marked at the global level by deep security and economic crises should not be ignored,” Klaus Iohannis stressed.

At the same time, the head of state noted that Moldova is not alone in this struggle and Romania is ready to go through this crisis together with them. Moldova should become a part of the European Union in the future, and there is no turning back from this path, as the message says.

“Romania supports the reform and democratic consolidation efforts on the path taken by Chisinau towards a modern, prosperous society based on European democratic values. I assure the citizens of Moldova that Romania and Romanians are still with them,” Iohannis said.

On February 9, Moldova confirmed the receipt of Ukrainian intelligence data on the plans of the Russian Federation. Chisinau is taking prompt measures to detect the attempts of the aggressor country to destabilize the situation in the state.

Also on February 9, Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian intelligence has data according to which Russia plans to take over Moldova . According to him, he passed this information on to his colleague Maia Sandu. She confirmed it.
