YEREVAN, February 15. /ARCH/. Armenia and the Czech Republic are ready to intensify contacts on the implementation of reforms in the healthcare sector, in particular, the introduction of a comprehensive health insurance system. According to the press service of the RA Ministry of Health, this was stated at the meeting of the head of the department Anahit Avanesyan with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Armenia Petr Pirunchik.
During the meeting, the main sectors that have the greatest potential for cooperation and exchange of experience were identified:
* implementation of a comprehensive health insurance system,
* pharmaceuticals,
* preservation of maternal and child health.
The consequences of the blockade of Artsakh due to the blocking of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan since December 12, 2022 were also touched upon.
The minister presented the problems in the healthcare sector that have arisen as a result of the blockade, calling on the European partners to raise this issue in various instances.
On the health insurance system
Approved by the Armenian government on February 9, “The Strategy for the Development of the Healthcare System of Armenia for 2023-2026.” provides, in particular, for the introduction of a universal health insurance system in 2023-2027. It will cover all types of medical services, with the exception of dentistry and plastic surgery.
Key principles – prevention of diseases and preservation (improvement of criteria) of health, increase in life expectancy, reduction of early mortality and disability; changing the financing model of the sphere to increase the quality and accessibility of medical services; new requirements for medical licenses, advanced training of medical staff and modernization of hospital infrastructure (repair, equipment upgrade) at all levels.
