Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Bosnian search and rescue teams had pulled 26 people alive from the rubble.
Cavusoglu and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic held a joint press conference after their meeting at the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Cavusoglu said that Bosnia and Herzegovina stood by Turkey first with messages of solidarity and then with the rescue teams it sent.
“13 rescue crews consisting of 234 people went from Bosnia-Herzegovina to Turkey immediately after the earthquake. They worked feverishly and rescued 26 people from the rubble. They sent tents for the earthquake victims and pledged financial aid.”
The support and solidarity of the international community was also great, the Minister of Foreign Affairs underlined and added the following:
“So far 100 countries have offered help, now in the field there are rescue crews from 76 countries, their number is 7,606, crews from two countries are expected. In other words, approximately 712 additional staff will come from abroad.”
Cavusoglu said rescue teams from 12 countries had completed their tasks and returned to their countries.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also thanked the countries and organizations working voluntarily in the region.
Elmedin Konakovic sent a message of unity and solidarity to Turkey.
“As Bosnia and Herzegovina, we are proud to have sent a search and rescue team,” he said.
