A special grand jury in Georgia recommended multiple indictments as part of a probe into potential interference by former President Donald Trump and his allies in the 2020 election, the jury’s forewoman said Tuesday.
Emily Kohrs, the forewoman, told The New York Times that the list of indictments recommended by the jury was “not a short list” – but she did not disclose who the jury recommended be indicted, or what for, in compliance with instructions from a judge.
Last week, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ordered the release of three extremely limited portions of the grand jury’s final report. The decision came out of a hearing last month in which Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis urged McBurney to keep the report under wraps, stating that charging decisions in the investigation were “imminent.”
The sections of the report released revealed little, save for the fact that the grand jury believed some witnesses in the probe committed perjury, and recommended that the district attorney seek indictments where relevant.
Asked if Trump was one of the people the jury recommended be indicted, Kohrs would not say.
“You’re not going to be shocked. It’s not rocket science,” she told the Times.
The Associated Press was the first to identify Kohrs as the forewoman and interview her.
